Mooney is a Mental Health Counselor, experienced in conducting intake assessments, and providing individual and group counseling sessions. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Neuroscience from the University of Toronto, and a master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from the University of Massachusetts, Boston.
During her training in Boston, she conducted group therapy sessions (including Dialectical-Behavior Therapy (DBT) groups), participated in case conferences, and developed successful treatment plans for her patients. In addition, she has experience of assisting with clinical research.
At ELG, Mooney has continued to serve the community as a Mental Health Counselor, conducting intake assessments and providing individual and group psychotherapy for clients with depression, anxiety, PTSD, suicidal ideation, history of violence and paranoia. Her genuine concern and interest in her clients helps them to connect with her. She is able to look beyond specific interactions in order to understand her clients’ inner struggles and the therapy relationship. She incorporates skills from various approaches to support her clients’ strengths, help them to set goals and make changes in a self-motivated and self-directed way.
Mooney focuses on the specific needs and interests of her clients in order to build a strong therapeutic relationship and foundation for therapy. She is also passionate about providing resources for international communities, and strives to serve as a bridge between different cultures.
