Postgraduate Certificate in Psychology
Postgraduate Diploma in Education in Special Education
Nottingham Trent University, United Kingdom
Suzanne received her bachelor’s degree in business studies from Dublin City University. Initially working in accounting and investments, Suzanne retrained as a TEFL teacher to travel. She moved to South Korea in 2011 for work, and volunteered at a domestic abuse shelter.
She later relocated back to Ireland where she volunteered at a homework club for young adults seeking asylum, some of whom had special education needs. Her passion for teaching and helping people with special needs spurred her to earn a postgraduate certificate in psychology and postgraduate diploma in special education at Nottingham Trent University. During her studies, she worked in the Sutherland House School for students with autism. She also became certified in CALM (Crisis, Aggression, Limitation and Management), which focuses on de-escalation and aggression management of individuals with special needs.
At ELG, Suzanne coordinates, plans, and prepares resources at the full-time program. In Shanghai, she has volunteered at a local state-run orphanage for children with special needs and plans to get further involved with local community-based projects.
Suzanne enjoys how every day is different at ELG. She also values working with a wonderful and supportive team where each individual brings a positive attitude to the dynamics of the day. She is passionate about caring for others and providing a safe and nurturing learning environment.
