Joy earned an M.A. in developmental psychology from Teachers College, Columbia University, US and is a licensed Registered Behavior Technician (RBT). She is currently pursuing her Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) license.

Joy has significant experience working in China and the US. Prior to joining ELG, Joy worked as an applied behavior analysis (ABA) therapist at The Missing Peace Autism Center in Texas, US, where she provided direct ABA therapy to children, with a focus on natural environment teaching, verbal behavior, and discrete trial training. Previously, Joy worked as a teaching assistant for the Assisted Learning Program at Learning Beyond Academy in Shanghai, where she implemented interventions for students with learning difficulties and physical disabilities. Her strengths include formulating the most effective treatment plans for children, and coordinating communication between parents, classroom teachers, speech-language pathologists and other therapists.

As an ABA therapist at ELG, Joy provides ABA therapy to children and conducts functional behavior assessments (FBA). In addition, she offers teacher and parent training sessions so that children receive holistic, consistent support both at home and in school. Joy especially enjoys sharing therapy techniques and best practices with parents and teachers in an accessible way, and actively involving parents in their children’s ABA therapy.
