Marlisa earned her B.S. in communication sciences and disorders at Illinois State University and went on to achieve her M.S. in speech-language pathology at Southern Illinois University. Post-qualification she embarked on her career as a pediatric speech-language pathologist at Kimberly McRae Inc., Chicago, providing early intervention to a wide range of children. Since then, Marlisa has expanded her outreach as a speech-language pathologist across the Chicago metropolitan area, working at Independence Early Learning Center, Clearbrook, and Laremont School.

Over the course of her extensive professional history she has worked with a wide age range, spanning infants to young adults. This has enabled her to become skilled in assessing and treating a variety of needs. In particular, she is experienced in working with augmentative and alternative communication needs, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), language delays, sensory processing, dysphagia, feeding difficulties, severe-profound disabilities, and hearing loss.

She holds an Illinois license for speech-language pathology, is certified by ASHA (American Speech-Language-Hearing Association), is certified in Early Intervention, and is also a certified yoga teacher.

Consistent with her professional background, Marlisa holds the position of speech-language pathologist at ELG, lending us her expertise developed over many years of hands-on experience. Having moved to China for her position at ELG, she has enjoyed immersing herself in a new environment and gaining new perspectives.
